According to a Visitation by Thomas Ram, the Protestant bishop of Ferns, in 1615 Daniel Murfy was the rector of Raven, Nicholas Rochford the curate, and the church and chancel were in repair (Hore 1900-11, vol. 6, 271). In the course of the 1641 rebellion Edmund Tayler, the priest of Raven, by his own account was robbed of £620 (Hore 1920, 102). The parish church of St Margaret’s' or Raven was destroyed in the 18th century when the sea encroached a quarter mile on the coast (Lewis 1837, vol. 2, 343). St Margaret's Well (WX033-0015----), a natural pond c. 450m from the shore, may have been close to the site.
