The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a rectangular structure (dims. c. 15m E-W; c. 8m N-S) which is described as 'Church (in ruins)' on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and situated on a NE-facing slope of a NE-SW ridge. This is a slightly raised rectangular grass and scrub-covered area (dims. 41m N-S; 20m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank with an external stone-facing at N (Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.7m) and E and field banks (Wth c. 1.5m; H 1m) at S and W. There is an entrance (Wth 3m) at E. Within the enclosure are the foundations of a building with drystone walls of shale and quartz oriented E-W (int. dims. 11.35m E-W; 2.5m N-S). A second rectangular structure is visible as a sunken area (dims. 8.5m E-W; 5m N-S) inside the perimeter of the enclosure at N. There is no evidence of burial. The Church Well, a circular well (diam. 1m) with a collapsed drystone wall but with no evidence of veneration, is c. 40m to the ESE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
