The National Monuments Service's description
Identified in centre-line testing (E4110) in advance of the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy road scheme and set aside for resolution as Scurlocksbush 1 and 2 (Hardy et al. 2010, 97-8). It is situated on a NW-facing slope. It was partially excavated (E4201) by C. Hardy who uncovered a circular trough (diam. 2.35-2.4m; D 1.2m) with 9 planks covering the rectangular base (dims c. 2m x c. 2m). The planks may be oak and some exhibit tool-marks. Twelve stakes were used to secure the planks and a central mortise-hole was plugged with a stake. The uppermost of four fills included burnt stone material from the covering mound (dims 11m N-S; 2.5m E-W; T 0.12m) that produced two pieces of flint debitage, but the mound extended outside the road-take to the E. The fulacht fia (WX026-093----) is c. 250m to the SSW. (Hardy 2012; 2013)
