The National Monuments Service's description
Archaeological excavation (04E0322) in advance of the N30 road re-alignment at site 8 recovered a number of timbers thought to have come from a mill. Eight large timbers were recovered in unmonitored construction work from a limited area, three of which are thought to be from the main structure of a mill. Licensed monitoring identified some others and a palaeo-channel which was sampled and which might contain part of the tailrace. Felling dates of AD 771 +-9 years and AD 745 +-9 years have been obtained through Dendrochronological analysis. (Bangerter 2008)
