The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a rectangular embanked or moated enclosure (ext. dims. c. 70m NW-SE; c. 60m NE-SW) bisected by a NE-SW road on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and located at the S edge of a low plateau with the W-E Bora River c. 180m to the S. It is described in the 1940s as a rectangular area (dim. 34m NE-SW) defined by a flat bottomed fosse (Wth c. 2.7m; D c. 1-1.5m), and with an outer bank (ext. H c. 0.5m) on the NW side at least. It was divided by the modern road (SMR file). It is now removed NW of the road but traces of the moats (Wth c. 12m; D c. 0.3m) are still visible as slight depressions SE of the road (int. dims. c. 33m NE-SW; 12m NW-SE). (Barry 1977, 217, WX 23)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
