According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) a Castle, a mill, a weir on a small stream and 100 acres at Tomnemaghtiry, which is probably Toom townland, were owned by Edward Synnott in 1641 (Simington 1953, 268-9). The castle remains unlocated.
