Moated site

The National Monuments Service's description

Marked as a rectangular embanked or moated enclosure (ext. dims. c. 60m N-S; c. 60m E-W) on the 1839 and 1940 eds. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle SW-facing slope. It was described in the 1940s as a rectangular area with raised edges (dims. 27m x 26m), a flat-bottomed moat (Wth 3.5m; D below interior 1.5–2m) and an external counterscarp bank (SMR file; OSFM). It has been removed since then, and is not visible at ground level in a harvested cereal crop. It can be seen as a faint cropmark on the OSI series of aerial photographs (2005).
