The National Monuments Service's description

Identified in centre-line testing (E4110) in advance of the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy road scheme, and set aside for resolution as Askunshin 1 (Hardy et al. 2010, 120-1). It is located on a slight N-facing slope in a slight col between a low hill c. 900m to the NW and a slight rise c. 400m to the SW. It was fully excavated (E4221) by Y. Whitty when a hearth (dims 0.7m x 0.66m; T 0.18m) was recorded with three stake-holes nearby together with a layer of re-deposited hearth material. There was a cluster of six post-holes in a confined area (dims c. 3m x c. 3m) near a pit (diam. 0.7m x 0.45m; D 0.13m) c. 4m to the W but no pattern was discernible, and there were other isolated pits and post-holes. Three sherds of glazed red earthenware from the topsoil might provide the only dating evidence. The pits (WX016-035----) are c. 100m to the SW, although they might be completely unrelated.
