The National Monuments Service's description

What was described as a 'tomb' (dims. 4 feet x 2 feet) composed of four slabs and containg the bones of an adult and a 'terracotta vessel' was found during sand quarrying at Courtown close to the mouth of the W-E Owenavorragh River (Anon. 1862-3, 144-5). The location is not known now.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
