The National Monuments Service's description

A cist was discovered in removing a mound of stone and clay at Ballykale on the E side of Ballyminaun Hill c. 1878 (Kinahan 1881-2, 774; Ó Bróin 1925, 107-09). It contained an urn which was broken and is now lost. When a second cist (WX011-025----) was discovered nearby more care was taken and a vase Food Vessel was recovered. The location of the discovery is not known now. (Waddell 1970, 136)
