The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the bottom of the E-facing slope of a N-S ridge of Slieveboy Hill. This is a a rectangular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 44m NE-SW; 36m NW-SE) defined by earthen banks (Wth 4-7m; int. H 0.8-1.1m) on all sides except the SE, with a complete flat-bottomed and overgorwn moat (Wth 5-6.5m; D below the interior 1.4-1.7m). Outside this there is an outer bank (Wth 4-6m; H 1.3-2.2m) and external fosse (at SW: Wth 6m; D 1m) on all sides except the SE (max. ext. dims. 68m NE-SW; 54m NW-SE). (Barry 1977, 218, WX 37)
