The National Monuments Service's description
Marked on the 1839 and 1940 eds of the OS 6-inch map and described as a tumulus on the latter. The townland name, Knockavota, means the hill the moat, and the locatin is on a gentle SW-facing slope. This is an oval grass and scrub-covered mound (dims. 26m NE-SW; 13m NW-SE; H 0.6m at N to 1.5m genearally) with slight traces of a fosse or quarry at the NW and SE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
