The National Monuments Service's description

Monument surveyed by ASI in 1976 and described as following; 'A large broad oval area (diam. 49m N-S; 39m E-W) outlined by a steep scarp. There is a low bank at the upper edge of the scarp from E to S but it is not clear if this is an original feature or not. A modern field wall runs along the edge of the site, scarp faced with stone from NNE-E, this is the border of the laneway shown on on the OS 6-inch map. A second outer modern vertical scarp has been sug and a modern concrete farm shed (hay barn) has been erected just outside the site on the N and there are older buildings on the NNE. A modern drain runs NE-SW just outside the scarp on the NW. From NW-W-SW the scarp is on the top of a steep natural slope with a large pond at its foot. A modern field wall runs E-W just outside the scarp on the S. Most of the perimeter except on the W has been defaced by later activity. There is no indication of an entrance. The interior rises unevenly from all sides towards the centre. The interior is very uneven and there are a number of shallow depressions on the S and SE and E which seem to be due to disturbance. Some stones are visible here and there in the surface but no features are discernible. The perimeter is rather heavily overgrown on the NW-W-SW. The site is on a small N-S ridge in pasture land and there are extensive views in all directions ' (ASI File 29/06/1976).
