The National Monuments Service's description

Monument surveyed by the ASI in 1976 and described as 'a roughly circular enclosure (diam. 37m N-S; 34m E-W) bounded by a bank of earth and stone with external fosse and a low counterscarp bank. The banks and fosse are best preserved on the S and the fosse and counterscarp bank are absent on the N and NE, probably due to disturbance. There are 2 gaps in the bank, one at the N and the other at the E but since the fosse and counterscarp bank are absent at both these points, it is not possible to say if either of them is an original entrance. The interior is level and featureless except for a small, shallow rectangular depression in the SE, the significance of which is not clear. There are faint traces of N-S cultivation ridges. The banks and fosse are heavily overgrown on the SE, S and SW and there are a number of stones, small and large, some very large visible on the counterscarp bank in a number of places, these are probably due to field clearance. The site is on low-lying ground in good pasture' (SMR File 23/08/1976). An earlier ASI field report from 1971 recorded the presence of a 'gap (Wth 1.8m) on the SE which may represent the entrance' (SMR File 28/06/1971).
