Monument placed on the Register of Historic Monuments on the 14th day of April 1989. Schedule Serial Number 3/89, extract from Iris Oifigiúil 25th April 1989.
Depicted as a small circular shaped earthwork on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map with field boundary to SE. However on the revised 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map the monument is now depicted as a semi-circular shaped monument transected at SE by the newly constructed Lynn-Mullingar Road running NE-SW. The E side of the monument was partially quarried away during the construction of this road between 1837 and 1911.
Situated on small hillock in undulating pasture land, with poorly drained land from W-N, good views from S-W-N. Stream 25m to NNE with River Brosna 280m to NW. Ringfort (WM026-007----) 340m to SSE, ringfort (WM026-005----) 110m to SSW. Poorly preserved and heavily overgrown monument consisting of a semi-circular shaped area (diam. 29m N-S; 26m E-W)enclosed by a tree-covered low earthen bank with shallow external fosse and traces of a low external bank only visible from N-NE. The E and SE quadrant of monument intersected by the Lynn-Mullingar Road. No clear entrance feature visible. The interior of the monument is slightly uneven and rises from the perimeter towards the centre following the slope of the natural hillock on which it is situated.
