The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a natural hillock, in pasture, with wide views in all directions. Ringfort (WM031-020----) lies c. 95m to SE and Killgarvan House is c. 105m to NW. Bivallate monument described in 1979 as a roughly circular-shaped earthwork enclosed by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank with a well-preserved entrance at ENE which is defined on either side by a bank of earth and stone. The external face of the inner bank is high and steep, although is almost reduced to a scarp. There are the remains of a shallow intervening fosse and a low outer bank. The ground falls away noticeably beyond the outer bank for a distance of approx. 12-14m where the earthwork is bound by a low, rocky scarp. The interior is fairly even with some rock outcrop. The earthwork is largely obscured by dense vegetation. An earlier field report suggested that this earthwork could have been the remains of a possible burial mound or the remains of an inauguration mound (OPW Field Report 04/04/1956).
