The National Monuments Service's description

The files of the National Museum of Ireland records that in October 1963 a report was received in the Museum stating that a cist grave was known to be located in Balrowan townland, near Killucan, Co. Westmeath (Cahill & Sikora 2011, vol. 2, 519). The site had been known about for some time but was under crop for some time. When Mr Leavy, a local, reported that the area was accessible, it was visited by Etienne Rynne and Peter Danaher. On arrival they found that the exact site of the cist was not known, and could not be located, although the approximate location has been marked on the map. The site was therefore not investigated (NMI File).
