The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a rise, in gently undulating pasture, with good views in all directions. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped tree-lined earthwork with a pond c. 80m to SW. Annotated ‘fort’ on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map. Depicted on the revised OS 6-inch map as a modified partially levelled semi-circular shaped earthwork with building in centre of earthwork.
Monument described in 1970 as a poorly preserved sub-circular shaped area enclosed by the remains of a bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.3m; Wth at top 0.6m; basal Wth 5.3m). The earthen bank is best preserved from ESE-S-W and elsewhere it is denuded to a scarp (H 1.65m). The scarp has been modified all the way around in relatively modern times and a modern pathway crosses it at W. The original entrance is not recognisable and there is a modern gap at S. There is no visible trace of a fosse. The level of the interior has been lowered across the S half and a modern dwelling and out house have been built within. Monument is no longer visible on Digital Globe aerial photography as it is occupied by a modern house and driveway.
