The National Monuments Service's description
Site was visited and recorded in 1980 when it was described as 'The NE ruin shown on the 1914 OS 6-inch map is a tall rectangular tower. Unfortunately this is almost totally obscured by a very dense growth of ivy. The only visible feature is a doorway (pointed arch) in this wall. This lies just N of a scarp associated with the graveyard (WM018-102001-). Running E from the e wall of the tower there is a low grass covered wall footing which turns at right angles to run S to the N wall of the SW structure (WM018-102003-). The significance of this is not clear, possibly the remains of a chapel. Located on a small natural ridge in undulating pasture land 210m SSE of Rathconrath Motte (WM108-093----)' (ASI file). The tower described above appears to be the remains of a tower on the east end of a church indicated on the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map as 'Church'. These remains appear to be those of an 18th or 19th century C of I church with the medieval church ruins (WM018-102003-) indicated in Gothic script indicated immediately to the southeast of this church. Today only the tower of the 19th century church survives.
