The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in slightly undulating pasture (OD 91m/300ft), c. 125m to WNW of Slanemore Lodge. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped tree-ring or landscape feature and not as an antiquity. Annotated 'Fort' on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as a modified oval-shaped, tree- ring and not as an antiquity.
Monument described in 1980 as a roughly oval-shaped hillock (32m E-W; 24m N-S) with steep sides and a flat top enclosed by the remains of a low, slight bank and a narrow external drain at the foot. This naturally formed hillock has been modified whereby the upper edge appears to have been scarped as a landscape feature, probably when planted with trees. The scarp seems to have been defaced by digging at NW. There is a low mound of earth and stones within the W quadrant. There is no evidence that this was an earthwork prior to the planting of the trees. Monument is visible as a roughly oval-shaped tree-planted feature on Digital Globe aerial photography. The annotation of 'Fort' on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map may suggest that this was an antiquity reused as a tree-ring in the post-1700 period.
