The National Monuments Service's description

No surface remains visible of medieval mill marked in this townland on the 1659 Down Survey map of Westmeath (NLI, MS 723-4). This mill is depicted on the 1659 Down Survey map of Rathconrath Barony (NLI, MS 723-4). On the 1659 Down Survey map of Templepatrick parish the mill is depicted as a watermill with waterwheel on the gable of the building. The terrier of the Down Survey of Templepatrick parish states that there is on 'the Lands of Templepatrick a Mill and some Cabbins' (NLI, MS 723-4). The Corn Mill depicted on 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map is located roughly in the same location as the site of the medieval mill depicted on the Down Survey maps. In 1979 the ASI recorded that the corn mill 'appears to have had tin wheels. One remains. No internal machinery visible' (SMR File 22/06/1979). The present mill at Templepatrick was described by the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage as following; 'Detached three-bay two-storey water mill, built c.1820. Now out of use and derelict. Pitched natural slate roof, now collapsed. Coursed rubble limestone walls with brick dressings to openings. Square-headed window and door openings. Central segmental-headed waterwheel arch with brick voussoirs to east elevation. Remains of cast-iron machinery to interior. Ruins of small corn kiln on square plan to adjacent to south. Set back from road in own grounds adjacent to small country road west' (www.buildingsofireland.ie).
