The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on ENE side of a natural rise, on the demesne lands of Oldtown House located 230m to NW. The souterrain lies immediately W side of the townland boundary with Corkan. Site of church (WM017-063----), abbey (WM017-054---) and possible ogham stone (WM017-054002-) 230m to NW. Souterrain (WM017-057----) 300m to NE, second souterrain (WM017-051----) annotated 'Cave' located 375m to W.
Depicted on the 1837 OS 6-inch map as a small circular feature (approx. diam. 7m) that is annotated ‘Cave’. Monument not visible on Digital Globe aerial photography. No surface remains of souterrain described in 1971 as ‘inaccessible’ with ‘no visible trace of a superstructure’. A roughly oval shaped cropmark (WM017-055001-) visible on Digital Globe aerial photography to the immediate W of the townland boundary could be the remains of a levelled ringfort associated with the souterrain.
