The National Monuments Service's description

The precise location of Williamstown Castle has not been identified. The castle is depicted on the 1655-9 Down Survey maps of Rathcronrath barony and Piercetown parish (NLI, MS 723-4). The castle is not depicted on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps. There is no evidence to suggest that Williamstown Lodge was built on the site of the medieval castle. This lodge is located in the wrong part of the townland as the castle is depicted standing in the S quadrant of Williamstown on the Down Survey parish map.
