The National Monuments Service's description

Templeavally graveyard located in the townland of Clonkeen, situated on low-lying poorly drained land with good views in all directions. Loghter Castle (WM016-001----) 1.3km to NW and possible ringfort (WM016-003---) 340m to N. Inny River marking county boundary with Longford 350m to N and Creggy River 95m to E. Church ruins (WM016-004----) standing in S quadrant of an irregular-shaped graveyard (dims. 63m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by a stone wall of post medieval date with entrance gate and stile at N facing onto public road. On the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map the church is shown standing in the N quadrant of a roughly-oval-shaped graveyard (dims. 28m N-S; 34m E-W). The curving boundary wall of post-medieval date may be following line of possible ecclesiastical enclosure (WM016-004002-). The N section of the boundary wall of this oval-shaped graveyard was removed when the burial ground was extended to the N and pathways were inserted around the perimeter of the smaller graveyard. On the 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map the N boundary wall of the oval-shaped graveyard is no longer present and the new pathways are depicted running around the perimeter of the smaller graveyard. A modern graveyard extension is now located to the W with car parking area immediately to E.
