The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on SW facing slope of a long ridge running NE-SW overlooking the S shoreline of Lough Reynella on the demesne lands of Reynella House located 410m to N. Present remains consist of a sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 24m N-S; 26m E-W) enclosed by a well preserved earth and stone bank (max. H 1m), with a wide external fosse. There is an entrance gap (Wth. 2.9m) and causeway (Wth. 2.75m; H 0.45m) across the fosse at NE. On the NE side of the ringfort there is a post-1700 ice house marked as a 'Cave' belonging to Reynella House. The site is now partially enclosed by a modern forestry plantation.
