The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on top of a natural hillock surrounded by low lying wet land, with good views in all directions. The site is now enclosed by modern forestry plantation. A stream which marks the townland boundary with Tuitestown curves around the site from N-E approx. 70m N and E of the monument. Present remains consist of a large circular-shaped area (approx. diam. 54m N-S; 49m E-W) enclosed by two well preserved earthen banks with an intervening wide deep fosse and causewayed entrance gap (Wth 2.9m; H 1.6m) at SE. The inner bank is fragmentary in places and the outer bank has been levelled from ENE-ESE. There is evidence of quarrying of the inner bank at NE, where it has been pushed into the fosse. Topsoil had been stripped from a portion of the interior, where fragments of bone were visible at the time of the ASI site visit in 1972.
See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI.
