The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the base of W facing slope of a prominent hill in grassland with good views from S-W. Earthwork (WM011-136----) 70m to S. A sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 30m N-S; 32m E-W) enclosed by two substantial earthen banks and a wide deep fosse. The inner bank has several disturbance gaps, and both banks and fosse have been quarried way from SE-S. The stone and earth field fence which forms the townland boundary with Johnnstown curves around the monument from SW-W-N and has obscured the outer bank at this side. There is a possible entrance gap at SE, although it is partially removed by quarrying, and a causeway (Wth 7.5m; H 0.95m) across the fosse. Two fragmentary banks cross the interior from NNE-SSW & NW-SE which appear to be later. Some humps and hollows in the SW quadrant may represent a square shaped possible hut site (WM011-129001-).
