The National Monuments Service's description
In 1940 Oliver Davies recorded that in this graveyard were the remains of a few cut stones which included 'part of the basin of an octagonal font' (ASI File). This may have been part of the limestone octagonal-shaped baptismal font (H 0.31m; bowl diam. 0.64m) with central drainage hole now standing in the walled garden of Ballinlough Castle (WM009-047----). According to the owner of Ballinlough Castle the font was moved to this location c. 50 years ago (1930s). The owner of the castle suggested that the font had been taken from the site of a medieval church located on the estate of Ballinlough Castle. The font (WM009-043003-) was originally located in the medieval church of Knock Killua (WM009-043----) dedicated to St. Lonán which is 3.2km NE of Ballinlough Castle.
