The National Monuments Service's description
17th century memorial stone may be located underneath mound of rubble stone due to recent collapse of the E end of the N wall of the medieval church (WM008-097002-). The memorial stone was dedicated to Raymond Fitzsimons who died on the 14th November 1613. The stone was inserted into the S face of the N wall of St. Mary's parish church (WM008-097002-) close to the NE angle and adjacent to 17th century wall monument (WM008-097011-) dedicated to the Nugent family. The stone consisted of a small sandstone block (dims. H 0.23m; Wth 0.23m) with Roman inscription in false relief: I H S/ REMVN/ FISIMVNS/ EIRES IN/ ?EPO(fai). XIIII/ NOVEMB/ 16XIII (Bradley et. al. 1985, 84).
