The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on fairly level ground c. 400m W of Ballyraine House. A large square enclosure shown on the 1909 OS 6-inch map (max. dims. c. 100m x 100m). It is described by Price (1936, 46) as having an earthen bank with stone facing, and a deep wide fosse, fed by a stream. It is shown on the first edition OS 6-inch map with a large house towards the E side, marked 'Site of a Building' (WI040-028001-). It was destroyed in 1971 (Information T. Barry; OPW and NMI Correspondence).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
