The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a gentle E-facing slope. A castle or fortified house appears to have been built here by Sir Laurence Esmond, Baron of Limerick (Price 1946, 73). Not visible at ground level. The location is known locally as the 'castle field', and is now occupied by a barn.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
