The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on level ground with downhill slopes to the Derreen River to the SW. Oval enclosure (dims. 78.6m N-S; 50m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 7-10m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.6-1.3m). A curving fosse (Wth 6.4m; D 0.2m) cuts off a portion of the N sector (dims. 10m N-S; 20m E-W). Within this is an irregular pile of stones. No indication of an external fosse or entrance.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
