The National Monuments Service's description
Excavation Licence No. 02E0702
Excavation of six possible archaeological features was undertaken between 3 and 7 June 2002 as part of the N11, Ballynabarney-Newtownmountkennedy realignment scheme. Investigations have shown that five features are not of archaeological significance. Two of these were agricultural furrows and three were natural soil variations. The remaining feature, a large charcoal-rich pit, appears to be archaeological and to have resulted from a single firing (Bennett 2007, 476).
