The National Monuments Service's description
Situated at a slight break in a marked E-facing slope. Bivallate oval ringfort (dims. 33m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2.2-3.5m; H 1m) and an external fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 1m), with an outer bank (Wth 1.8m; H 0.4m) from NW to N. There are three gaps in the bank-at the NE, astone-lined entrance (Wth 1.5m); at the S, a gap (Wth 2m) flanked on the E side by collapsed stone-facing of the terminal and at the W, a third modern gap. A cresentic annexe (dims. 38m E-W x 11-16m N-S) is attached to the site at the SW defined by a continuing fosse and outer bank of the enclosure except at S where there is a low scarp. The annexe appears to have been accessed through the gap at the S in the main enclosure and also through an entrance feature at its NW end. A later hut site (int. dims. 6m x 4m) has been superimposed onto the bank at the E.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
