The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a marked W-facing slope. Multivallate site (diam. 33m; max. ext. diam. 60m) on the E edge of very marshy level terrain. Defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; H 0.5-1.3m) and an external fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 0.5m) from NW-E-SW merging into a berm at the W. At the SW the berm has a stone revetment along the edge of the marsh. There is a second outer bank (Wth 2-2.5m) from N-E-SW with another narrow external fosse. There are third and fourth banks separated by a shallow fosse (Wth 1.5m) from NE-S. At the S these two banks merge into one wide low bank (Wth 6m; H 0.5m) with a narrow slot or trench along the top. The outermost (fifth) bank (Wth 2m; max. H 1.6m) runs from N-E-SW with a wide berm (Wth 10m) at the N between it and the second bank.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
