The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in a very marshy area and visible only as a wetter area within this. A spring which according to the OS Name Books was believed locally to have had curative powers. The name possibly means 'well of the cuckoo' (tobar na gcuach).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
