The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a gentle N-facing slope. Historical references to 'Derrylossary church' which was granted to the prebend of the Chancellor of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, by the archbishop of Dublin, have been identified with this site (Ronan 1928, 134). A modern church and walled graveyard now occupy the site and there is no trace of the original church. The site is encompassed by the remains of an oval bivallate enclosure (int. diam. c. 100m; ext. diam. c. 150m) best preserved at the N. The inner bank is incorporated in the N wall of the graveyard and from there curves SW towards the road. The outer bank (Wth 3m; H 0.3m) and external fosse (Wth 4.8; D 0.5m) are also in evidence only at the N. There are three granite bullaun stones within the enclosure, one inside and one outside the W wall of the graveyard and one 15m NE of the graveyard wall. Price and Stephens (1948, 179) also describe a fourth c. 200m NW of church (ibid., 130-31) which was located by Chris Corlett in 2005 (see WI018-012----).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
