The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a very gentle N-facing slope in pasture overlooking Vartry Reservoir. Oval enclosure (dims. 80m NE-SW; 89m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-6m; int. H 0.4-1.2m; ext. H 1.2-2m) with modern external dry stone facing on the partly disturbed NE perimeter. There is an external fosse (Wth 4m; D 1.2m) at the NW and S with slight traces at the NE. No indication of an entrance or internal features. The NE is disturbed by a farm track which occupies the recut fosse at the NW. A large block of quartz-granite outside the site at the N is known locally as The Mass Rock'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
