The National Monuments Service's description
National Monument in state ownership No. 531. Situated towards the N end of a low ridge with extensive views to the N and E. A modified steep-sided natural hillock with a flat summit (dims. 24m N-S; 36m E-W; H 4m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 6-6.5m; int. H 1.2-1.7m). From SSE-W-NE there is an external fosse (Wth 5-7m; D 1.5m) cut into the lower slopes of the hillock, outside which there is an outer bank (Wth 5m; ext. H 2m). The site has been damaged at the E by quarrying but there appears to have been an annexe (dims. c. 26m E-W; 20m N-S) in this area enclosed by a continuation of the outer bank (max. external dims. 57m N-S; c. 80m E-W). No indication of an entrance or internal features.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
