The National Monuments Service's description
The Ordnance Survey Letters (1838-40) noted 'In the townland of Killmacullagh in this parish, immediately bounding Newtown Mt. Kennedy, on the east, they show the situation of the old church of Macullagh, very near the Mill' (O'Flanagan 1928, 86).
