The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a gentle S/SE-facing slope. Oval enclosure (dims. 40m E-W; 30m N-S) defined by a substantial stone wall (Wth 1.5m; int. H 1.35m; ext. H 1.5m). This forms a paddock within a field system of similar massive walls. The rubble wall is very well constructed and there is a capping of alternating long and short stones surmounting the outer face which is consistently higher than the inner one. At the N (upslope) an inner wall (Wth 1.2-1.5m) has been added to the original construction probably as a buttressing feature. The ground within the enclosure has been thoroughly cleared apart from some very large earthfast boulders which have been used as the foundation of carefully constructed and faced clearance cairns. There are no gaps in the enclosure wall and no trace of an entrance feature or a fosse.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
