The National Monuments Service's description

Westropp (1914-16, 224-5) describes a promontory fort at Ballykilmurry (WA039-023001-) as a platform 'connected to the mainland by a long natural "dyke" a few feet wide'. He suggests it may have an internal hut-site. No point along the coast from Ballymacart Cove on the W to Rinnanillaun fort (WA039-014----) to the E corresponds with this description, and it is possible that this text is an intrustion from some other work in preparation.

Westropp, T. J. (1914-16) Fortiified headlands and castles on the south coast of Munster. PRIA C vol. 32, 188-227.
