The National Monuments Service's description
Sir Richard Boyle, the first Earl of Cork, developed the economy of his extensive grants of land in Waterford wherever he could by promoting iron-working. A double-furnace had been built near the castle at Lisfinny (WA028-013----) in 1620, and a storehouse for iron was operating here in 1638. It remains unlocated. (Power 1978, 32)
