The National Monuments Service's description
On Fornaght Strand, also known as Forenagh Beach, immediately N of Creadan Head. A storm in 2016 exposed the wooden of a fulacht fia (WA027-094----) which was excavated the same year (O’Donoghue 2016, licence no. 16E0079)). During the preliminary survey of the trough, a large area beyond the burnt stone spread was identified that contains a lot of shell, especially muscle shells. Following excavation, the remains of a possible shell midden, composed entirely of small cockle shells, with small twigs and some bird or fish bones, was exposed beneath the burnt stone spread associated with the fulacht fia. (O’Donoghue 2016).
