The National Monuments Service's description
Located in sand dunes above the high water mark at the isthmus connecting the Burrow Island sand dunes with a sand spit to the W. There is a spread of broken and burnt shells in a black matrix (dim. 12m N-S; min. dim. 8m E-W; T 0.3m). A conservation project conducted by Waterford County Council since 2008 has had the result that it is now protected within an enclosure (diam. c. 50m) defined by a meshed wire fence, with a viewing point just to the W.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
