The National Monuments Service's description

This record was formerly classed as 'Cairn (s)' in the SMR (1988). A 'Stone pile' is marked on a map of Lord Cremore's estates (NLI: 3201, 5) dated 1778-80, and 'Piles of Stones' are marked on the 1927 OS 6-inch map, These were placed as markers for townland boundaries.
