The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the W bank of a SE-NW stream, with the stream c. 30m distant. The parish church of Killoteran is within a small rectangular graveyard (dims. c. 45m NE-SW; c. 35m NW-SE). The nave and chancel are described as in ruins in 1615 (Anon. 1902, 110). The 19th century C of I church of St Otteran, a corruption of St Fuathráin, is now on the site and there are no visible remains of an earlier structure. This was converted into a private dwelling in 1997. The graveslab of James FitzJohn Nugent of Butlerstown (d. 1606) and his wife Catherine (d. 1614 or 1644), and the graveslab of John Cawdron (d 1656) were in fragments at the E end of the church (Walton 1980, 71) but were not recognised in 1989. The site of St Otteran's well, which is not known to have been venerated, is c. 270m to the NW. (Power 1895b, 171-2)
