The National Monuments Service's description

Off the crest of an N-facing slope of Spring Hill. Very good views in all directions except upslope to S. A thin upright stone (H 1.53m) which tapers towards the top (max. Wth at base 0.45m; Wth at top 0.07m) and is aligned E-W. It appears to be composed of a slate-like stone which gives it a dark blue colour. The base is roughly rectangular in plan (Wth N face 0.45m; E face 0.12m; S face 0.44m; W face 0.12m). There are 3 packing stones at the base of the S face (diam. c. 0.1-0.15m). There area around the base of the standing stone has been poached by livestock resulting in a hollow (diam. 4m; D c. 0.3m).
