The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a circular embanked enclosure on the 1840 (ext. diam. c. 25m) and 1926 (ext. diam. c. 40m) eds of the OS 6-inch maps and situated at the junction of the steep slope of Croughaun Hill with a gentler S-facing slope. It is described locally as a 'lios' which was removed in the 1970s. Slight traces of a circular grass-covered enclosure (diam. c. 30m) defined by a low scarp (H 0.3m) survive.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of upload/revision: 28th July, 2010.
