Burial ground

The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on flat ground close to the S bank of the Clodiagh River. Described by Power (1952, 411) as a 'cillín' consisting of a square area, half an acre in size. It was reputedly located close to a large evergreen tree at the roadside, but is not visible at ground level. Archaeological testing (02E0061) on the W side of the road by Dave Pollock (2004, 494, No. 1804) and Maurice Hurley (02E1453) (Excavations 2002, P 494, No. 1805) and S of the field boundary by Anne-Marie Lennon (04E1229) (Excavations 2007, 427, No. 1686) failed to produce any evidence of it.
